Tempe,
AZ (September 28, 2005)--The Conservatory of Recording Arts &
Sciences (CRAS) recently hosted a student question and answer panel
made up of SPARS Board members. The panelists included Eric Johnson, of
Blazing Music & Sound in Raleigh, NC, Karen Brinton of NYC’s Remote
Recording, Jeff Greenberg of The Village Studio in Los Angeles, SPARS
Nashville-based president Andrew Kautz, and Rick Senechal, of Microsoft
Studios in Washington.
The panelists sat before a group of 400 students and faculty in the
Conservatory’s 6,000 square-foot live sound room to talk about careers
in audio. "It is exciting to see so many people eager to work in our
field and we are always inspired by the level of technical knowledge
and the fresh perspectives that these young people bring to our
professional facilities," said Kautz. "We are eager to continue to
reach out to our pro audio educational members and work in conjunction
with one another to the mutual benefit of both parties."
CRAS student Benjamin Chang attended the panel and commented, "The
SPARS panel was very motivating. The great thing is that they’re
teaching us to adapt to the industry before we leave school. Also, we
found out it’s not just about what you know, it’s about you as a
person. They also gave us a lot of great information about how to
target our resumes for a specific job in audio."
And, another student, Gloria Strait, added, "The panel answered my
questions about Christian music that I had been searching for. Now I
know where to look more specifically for an internship. I liked the
that they stressed customer service and how to meet a customer’s needs
first."
