Although LDI is a lighting design show, audio plays a big part. One of the draws at the show are the workshops and panels held during the convention. This year, three of the panel topics were titled Using Plug-ins Live, Last Call for White Spaces! and Recording the Show. Panelists included CRAS Board of Director member and live sound engineer Robert Scovill, and CRAS grad Nick Simonds who works as a FOH engineer at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas. CRAS Director of Education and Mix Magazine Technical Editor Kevin Becka acted as moderator for all three panels that drew attendees from all over the United States and Canada. Other panelists included heads of audio from Cirque du Soleil, representatives from Waves, Roland Systems Group and Sennheiser, former White House audio engineer Carl Cordes (Professional Wireless), Buford Jones from Meyer Sound and Matt Bishop from Alford Media.
